Forest Hills

An oasis centrally located minutes from midtown Manhattan and the two major airports serving NYC, Forest Hills has a variety of one- and two-family houses, cooperative and condominium apartments and rental properties at an affordable price. There are two main commercial areas—Austin Street with its trendier brands and unique gourmet shops, bakeries and coffee shops, and Metropolitan Avenue, home to antique shops, diverse restaurants, and even a fabulous Trader Joe’s. For those with an active lifestyle, Forest Hills is bordered by Forest Park on one side with its hiking and riding trails, golf course, tennis courts and landmarked carousel, and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park with its twin lakes, picnic areas, sports fields, and water activities. Interspersed within Forest Hills are a few subdivisions that bear mentioning. Forest Hills Gardens was developed as a planned community with covenants and restrictions. What this means is that the homes must be maintained in the original style. Any outside work is supervised by the Forest Hills Gardens corporation’s architectural committee. The streets are also private and maintained by the association. There is also the Van Court community. The properties there are also subject to covenants and restrictions on the deed, but the streets are not private.
